Keeping your drawer organized at all times has always been a challenge. The daily rush can turn a really organized drawer into a nightmare. And I’m not saying we should strictly have all of our drawers super neat and put together, if you’re that organized you should know that we’re aiming to be like you, and if that’s not the case it’s cool too. The thing is that ‘life happens and so do we’ so, maybe that little scramble of clothes it’s our footmark for the drawer, a little reminder that we were there, or at least a good excuse to have it like that.
But with a few, really few, easy and not complicated suggestions we can get our drawer organized and functional to us. I’ll be mixing some ‘Marie Kondo’ advice but with a little and personal twist. Let’s see:
1. Take everything out of your drawer.
That way you can see what you have. I’m not suggesting you do all your drawers at once, cause that way you’ll end up with a pile of clothes. Actually, that’s what Marie Kondo suggests, it’s a good choice to do it like that, but if that were the case we have to take a day or two to handle it all.
2. Divide your clothes
Divide every clothes you own, a good category to follow is to separate it according to Daily wear, sleeping clothes, Underwear, Fancy Clothes, and Activewear and so on, you can use whatever category arrange better works for you.
By the way, this is a really good moment to take out everything you don’t use anymore, don’t fit or you don’t find yourself flatter or pretty in (what’s the point to keep a piece like that, if you don’t feel attractive or flatter in it, you’ll never will because that piece of cloth won’t change, that way you’re making sure that whenever you decide to use whatever it’s in your drawer you’ll feel comfortable and elegant in it).
3. Folding
This is a really important step, folding is the key because you won’t use something you can’t see. So, if you fold them right you can save space and place all your clothes in order to see everything you have and don’t miss a piece. Let me show you what I used to do, compared with what I do now. I’m using a basket as an example, imagine it’s a drawer.
I’m not folding in a special kind of way, even though there are tons of videos of how to fold properly, I just do it with a sense of space-saving.
Putting all your clothes in a vertical position instead of horizontally will help you see everything.
If you don’t want to put much time and effort into this you can buy drawers dividers, like the ones below. I recommend them to use it on your underwear drawer because your intimates pieces don’t have that much grab to stand vertical and not fall flat.
So this a simple yet practical and functional way to have your drawer, so you don’t have to mess up all the clothes looking for one piece plus you get to see everything you have.
Easy, right? Try it out, and let me know how it works for you 😉
